We have led the modern revival of green oak framing since 1980, when our family-run company set out to bring a 200-year-dormant craft back to life. We have a genuine passion for the materials and methods we work with every day

That passion has made Border Oak an industry pioneer. We developed the first TRADA and NHBC-approved high-performance oak frame infill panel, which is now recognised as best practice by the National House Building Council, and in 2000 we designed and built the UK's first domestic home using Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs). In the late 1980s we also pioneered collective custom build schemes, helping make self-build oak framed homes more accessible and affordable.

Few oak frame companies offer the breadth of service Border Oak does. Our clients can order a frame alone, or choose a fully project-managed, fixed-price turnkey build carried out by our own project managers, designers and established team of craftsmen and builders, covering everything from initial design through to final delivery. Our team works across masonry, softwood framing, structural oak and SIPs, blending methods to design the most appropriate home for each client's needs and budget, rather than simply maximising oak content.

Craftsmanship and authenticity run through everything we build. Border Oak homes have picked up national awards, featured on Grand Designs, and our homes command higher resale values than conventional equivalents.
